ARTIST BIO

"As an artist and print-maker, I produce work in limited editions. Through meticulous attention to the detail and quality of each print, I celebrate indigenous people of the Americas past and present." I am an enrolled Crow tribal member, having been raised on the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservations in eastern Montana and studied art at the University of Montana, Missoula.. I am an accomplished print-maker, painter and muralist. My artwork often references themes common to neighboring Plains Indian Tribes.  I incorporate aspects of Native American imagery, stories, and contemporary life into my work in an effort to dispel stereotypes of Indian people. I work in a variety of printmaking processes including mono-type, woodcut, lino cut, and for collagraph prints on papel amate (bark paper). The collagraph process uses a printing plate built up with collage elements. This method is indicative of the influence of his late teacher, Don Bunse, who was instrumental in developing the collagraph technique. Through my work, the innovative use of this technique is far from exhausted. My work has been featured in one-man shows and exhibits throughout the country and overseas.  During the past 20 years, I have been a part of the Arizona art community promoting the printmaking processes of monotype, etching, and collagraph to Native American and Chicano artists throughout the region. My belief is that artists can diversify their work without compromising the integrity of their work.
